Easter Baskets Shared with Delta County Veterans

Thank you Delta County Veterans for your service

Potatoes make any dinner better!

Mr. Ken Milam, Veteran Outreach Program Specialist for the Escanaba Vet Center in Escanaba stated, “On behalf of our needy Delta County Veterans, Vet Center and myself, I cannot thank the Community Foundation for Delta County enough for all their hard work and generosity in providing much needed food baskets to our Delta County Veterans.” He continued, “We contact our Veteran Service Organizations and get a count of those who are in need of food for the upcoming holiday. I contact the Community Foundation for Delta County with a number of baskets needed and they take over from there. They organize everything from the food items needed for the baskets, arrange assembly and pick-up times, getting donations, paying for the food baskets and even help with the distribution”.

Mr. Charlie Becker, Board Chair of the Community Foundation for Delta County stated, “The Community Foundation Board of Trustees and Staff are more than happy to do the work it takes to provide our Delta County Veterans in need with food baskets for the Easter holiday. The Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees and Staff have the upmost respect for all Veterans and truly appreciate all they have done for us and our Nation”.

“It’s because of the Community Foundation for Delta County’s collaboration with the Escanaba Vet Center and the following organizations that we are able to give back to our Delta County Veterans in need this Easter holiday. A special thank you to Sayklly’s Confectionery & Gifts for the special pricing on the Sayklly’s Easter Eggs and Meijer for their special pricing on food basket items and VanDamme Potato Farms for donating the potatoes. Also, Thrivent for their Action Team gift cards and Choice Dollars directed by Thrivent Action Team Members” stated Mrs. Cheryl Andzejewski, Executive Director of the Community Foundation for Delta County.

Mr. Milam stated, “The Community Foundation for Delta County does an incredible job with the baskets ensuring that each basket has food items that you’d expect to see on your holiday table, such as ham, potatoes, fresh dinner rolls and all of the other fixings. They even made sure that each Veteran received an Easter Egg from Sayklly’s Confectionery & Gifts.” He continued, “All of the hard work that goes into each basket is evidence of the Community Foundation for Delta County and their collaborative organizations respect and gratitude to our Veterans. We are so thankful to you all”.

“On behalf of the Community Foundation for Delta County Board of Trustees and Staff, I’d like to wish all of our Veteran’s, and community, a happy, healthy, safe and enjoyable Easter Holiday”, stated Mrs. Andzejewski.
