Ken Gartland Gives Gift to help with new Camp Harstad Toy Storage Shed

Mr. Ken Gartland presents a check in the amount of $17,500.00 to current President Rotary Trust, Mr. Roger Charbonneau; Board Member Rotary Trust, Mr. Brian Thorsen, Secretary Rotary Trust, Ms. Cheryl Ohman and Past President Rotary Trust, Mr. Kel Smyth, (not pictured) to help with a new Camp Harstad Toy Storage Shed.

“The Gartland Family is very generous and have helped make a difference in our community on countless occasions to numerous organizations, programs and scholarships. Therefore, it didn’t surprise me when the Gartlands’ stepped up to help Camp Harstad again,” states Mrs. Cheryl Andzejewski, Community Foundation for Delta County Executive Director (not pictured). She continued, “The funds used came from the Kenneth and Patricia Gartland fund held in the Community Foundation for Delta County, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula.”

Mr. & Mrs. Gartland are very supportive of our community. They always help in any way they can. Their generosity, compassion and thoughtfulness really makes a difference in the lives of Camp Harstad campers. Camp Harstad Summer Day Camp is located on beautiful Lake Michigan in Ford River and is for disabled children and young adults and runs from the beginning of early June and last for eight weeks offering disabled children and young adults experiences they may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience.

“On behalf of myself, Pat and our family, we would like to thank all involved in the running of Camp Harstad and its Summer Day Camp for disabled children and young adults. It is a wonderful program that offers experiences that the disabled campers, and workers, can carry with them for their lifetime,” states Mr. Gartland.
